OK…Pride in Christianity? I know a lot of you are thinking pride in the negative sense but let me explain.
Last night, I was praying before I went to sleep and I found myself praying that God should return to me the “pride” I used to have in being a Christian. Any one who knows me knows that I am a Pharmacy student, Musician (www.facebook.com/thelevites312 – shameless plug lol) mentor/advisor/counsellor, and a whole heap of other things I do on the side – I take great pride and joy in all the roles I play despite how tasking they are. But as life went on, I found I began to take MORE pride in the things I was doing for God, rather than in God himself. I got more joy from doing things for God than being with God, and from going in His name rather than being in His presence. Let me qualify this by saying I did not backslide or fall of the rails, but the emphasis in my walk became more focused on “what can I do for God” rather than letting my identity (and pride) be first in Him, and then the effortless emphasis be on all the other roles He was calling me to walk in.
It’s a simple mistake we all make along the way, and one very few of us realise…so in not so many words, I’d like to appeal to you all to go back and find the pride and joy in your Christianity; In your personal and private walk with God FIRST. Restore the balance and order in your life – let your heart find the most and more satisfaction with BEING with God rather than doing things for Him because you know that the doing is an extension of the being, and without the being, the doing is in vain.
I hope you followed that last sentence? lol…
Let me leave you with this verse and I’ll keep shut lol…
English Standard Version (ESV)
My Soul Longs for the Courts of the LORD
1How(C) lovely is your(D) dwelling place, O LORD of hosts!2My soul(E) longs, yes,(F) faints for the courts of the LORD;my heart and flesh sing for joy to(G) the living God. 3Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may lay her young,
at your altars, O LORD of hosts,
(H) my King and my God.
4(I) Blessed are those who dwell in your house,
ever(J) singing your praise!
5Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
(K) in whose heart are the highways to Zion.[b]
6As they go through the Valley of Baca
they make it a place of springs;
(L) the early rain also covers it with(M) pools.
7They go(N) from strength to strength;
each one(O) appears before God in Zion.
8O(P) LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer;
give ear, O God of Jacob!
10For a day(S) in your courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be(T) a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11For the LORD God is(U) a sun and(V) shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor.
(W) No good thing does he withhold
from those who(X) walk uprightly.
12O LORD of hosts,
(Y) blessed is the one who trusts in you!
Until next time,
Much Levitical Lovin’
