God please excuse me as I type this, I really am not trying to be rude, but I just have a few things to get off my chest.
Do you want to know why it’s so hard to believe You at times? Because most of the things we go through are so extremely contrary to Your Word that it’s like, well I know You’re not a liar so that means a lot of people in life are/life is/I am/situations are. They’re all lies. Is that why things don’t make sense? because they aren’t how they’re supposed to be?
Anyway, let’s get to the point.
The expectation of the righteous shall not be cut off…
hmm…God it’s hard you know. I’ve had a lot of expectations and a lot of cuttings off…a lot…You can’t blame me for not wanting to expect anymore, but then who am I expecting from?
Owe no man anything but love…
That means I can and should expect love, Christ’s love. lol…I barely get that from people. But you’ve provided me with such a small yet dynamic circle who I get that from.
So do You want to know why it’s so hard for me to trust You?
Because I’m looking to man for what only You can give constantly and without constraint or short supply.
I’m expecting from people what I should only expect from You. You told me to OWE no-one love, not expect love. In fact, You told me to expect persecution and hate and trials and tests. You told me that people WILL fail me but to expect that You will never leave or forsake me!
So no matter what people say or do to me, the only thing I should expect is You will ALWAYS be here! People, no matter how close, will come and go…You won’t. Selah…
This blog for me speaks about how we twists God’s words in the slightest of ways during our hard times to gain false comfort. We all go through times where and when we are low and have been let down, but what’s important for us to focus on is God. He is the only person that is incapable of failing and I’m sure if you looked back on your life in the past week, it would echo this testimony.
Man WILL fail you, God cannot.
Stop expecting from man what only God can do. When the bible says He will supply all your needs, it doesn’t only mean tangible things. He will satisfy your life with good things, but only HE can do that…
Hebrews 12:2 (NIV) Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Nice one and I agree with the thrust of the article. As I contemplated the Romans text you quoted, I came to realise that it has an even deeper significance you know. Let me share what I came to understand.
It says “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.” Romans 13:8. A plain reading of the text indicates that we owe love to one another. God has required of us that we show love to any and all we come into contact with, our neighbours (as per the good samaritan parable), our family and even our enemies (Matt 5:45-48) It is in showing this love to others that we demonstrate that we are children of God because he shows indiscriminate love to everyone.
Thanks for the blog, it blest me.
